Taking a compliment
I have given myself some homework this week. To become better at accepting and embracing a compliment. We are all so hard on ourselves, always striving for more, looking to achieve perfection. At work. At home. And in yoga. Which is missing the point. I was in a self-practice class this week. My teacher looked over at me whilst I was in marichyasana D. For me this is a really hard posture. It's one I've made a lot of progress in but there is still work to do. My teacher said: "Lovely marichyasana D Louise." I pulled a face because I felt it was far from perfect. "Next time try saying 'thank you'," she smiled. "Do your practice and all is coming," Sri K Pattabhi Jois is often quoted as saying. If we practise kindness to ourselves and accept those compliments then maybe we might notice our minds becoming more flexible along with our bodies.
